Bawumia names 16-member team to lead 2028 campaign operations
Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has unveiled a 16-member team to steer his political operations as the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) begins laying early groundwork for the 2028 general elections.
The appointments, announced via social media, span key areas including strategy, communications, policy, and youth mobilization.
According to Bawumia’s office, the selections demonstrate the flagbearer’s determination to build a “formidable party structure” ahead of the polls.
Former Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has been named Chief of Staff, while former MP Frederick Opare-Ansah will oversee identifiable activities.
Peter Mac Manu, a former NPP National Chairman, has been appointed Director of Political Strategies.

The team brings together seasoned party strategists alongside younger voices in communications and policy. This blend is expected to boost Bawumia’s engagement with youth, women, and the party’s grassroots as the NPP intensifies preparations for 2028.
Although Bawumia was defeated by John Mahama in the 2024 presidential election, he remains the NPP’s central figure heading into the next electoral cycle.
