In a decisive move to curb traffic accidents and protect lives, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akyem Oda, Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has officially launched a comprehensive road safety campaign targeting motorcycle riders and commercial operators across the constituency.

The initiative follows a highly successful, interactive stakeholder engagement between the lawmaker and local motorcyclists. During the meeting, the MP and riders held fruitful discussions focused on the urgent need to enhance road safety, promote discipline, and encourage responsible road usage within the municipality.

Recognizing the vital role motorcycles play in local transport—and the growing risks associated with reckless riding—the MP’s office designed this campaign to directly address the root causes of road accidents.

The multi-phase campaign will focus heavily on:

  • Safer riding practices to reduce preventable collisions
  • Responsible road use through strict adherence to traffic laws
  • Public awareness drives targeting both riders and pedestrian safety

Speaking on the inspiration behind the campaign, Hon. Akwasi Acquah emphasized that achieving accident-free streets requires collective action from all community members.

"Following our engagement, my office has initiated a comprehensive road safety campaign. This is my new initiative and together, we can make our roads safer for everyone. Watch out for the initiative," the MP stated.

The campaign is expected to roll out across various suburbs of Akyem Oda in the coming days, featuring educational workshops, distribution of safety gear like helmets or reflective vests, and collaborative monitoring with local transport unions and law enforcement.
