The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Akim Oda constituency, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has publicly urged the President to bypass plans for a national dialogue aimed at curbing political insults, calling it an unnecessary venture.

According to the lawmaker, the single, definitive solution to restoring decorum in Ghana's political discourse lies in addressing the conduct of controversial US-based Ghanaian broadcast journalist Kevin Taylor.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) legislator argued that organizing forums or national discussions on political vitriol would prove futile without tackling what he perceives as the root cause.

"Mr. President, there is no need for a national dialogue on how to end insults in our politics. There is only one solution; calling, Kevin Taylor, to order. Anything less than this would yield no tangible fruits," the MP stated unequivocally.

The MP’s remarks come amidst growing concerns from civil society organizations, religious bodies, and political analysts regarding the rising tide of toxic rhetoric, personal attacks, and misinformation within the country's political landscape.

While some stakeholders have advocated for broad-based national conversations to draft a code of conduct for political actors, Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah believes such efforts miss the mark.

By directly naming Kevin Taylor—the host of the heavily political 'With All Due Respect' online show—the Akim Oda representative highlighted how digital media platforms and external commentators significantly sway domestic political discourse.

Taylor is known for his aggressive, no-holds-barred commentary often targeting government officials and public figures, making him a polarizing figure in Ghanaian politics.

Political commentators expect the MP's assertive stance to ignite further debate on media regulation, the boundaries of free speech, and how the state should respond to defamatory commentary originating outside Ghana's physical jurisdictions.
