The flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, on Thursday, September 17, 2026, paid a courtesy call on the Asantehemaa, Nana Yaa Akyaa II, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

The visit was to congratulate Nana Yaa Akyaa II on her enstoolment and to formally extend his best wishes to her.

Dr Bawumia also sought the Asantehemaa’s blessings for his vision for the presidency, to which Nana Yaa Akyaa II responded appropriately. The former Vice-President was accompanied by several prominent members and stalwarts of the NPP during the visit.
