Ghana deepens cocoa trade relations with China
In a bid to deepen the cocoa trade relations with Asia, the Cocoa Marketing Company (CMC) dispatched a high-level delegation to the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE).
The delegation, led by Jamal Konneh, Deputy Director of Operations, represented the company on behalf of CMC Managing Director Dr. Wisdom Dogbey, who has made international expansion a core pillar of the company’s strategic agenda.
Speaking to stakeholders at the Expo, Konneh highlighted Dr. Dogbey’s vision of fostering stronger bilateral partnerships between Ghana and China.
He emphasized CMC’s unwavering commitment to business continuity and underscored the significance of promoting the premium cocoa beans in the Asian market as part of a broader effort to expand the country’s global cocoa footprint.
The delegation engaged with key partners, including Genertec International, a subsidiary of China Light Import and Export Company and the largest importer of Ghanaian cocoa beans to mainland China.
Genertec International acknowledged the pivotal role played by CMC in supplying high-quality cocoa and reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining a long-standing partnership with Ghana.
Konneh reiterated CMC’s pledge to deliver premium Ghanaian cocoa beans to international buyers while intensifying efforts to grow global demand for the commodity.
The move comes as part of CMC’s ongoing strategy to position Ghana as a leading supplier in the international cocoa market, leveraging strong trade relationships and high standards of quality to secure new markets abroad.
This development builds on CMC’s historical role as the central agency in the cocoa export sector, which has long served as a cornerstone of the country’s economy and a major source of foreign exchange.
By participating in high-profile international platforms like the CIIE, CMC seeks to reinforce its reputation as a producer of world-class cocoa while solidifying enduring commercial partnerships in Asia.
