Ghanaian midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi has taken another major step in his rapidly developing career after being nominated for the 2025/26 Danish Superliga Player of the Season award following an impressive campaign with FC Nordsjælland.

The young midfielder was named among an elite shortlist of eight players competing for one of the biggest individual honours in Danish football, underlining his growing influence and reputation in Europe.

Breakthrough Season in Denmark

Yirenkyi’s nomination follows what has been widely regarded as a breakthrough season for the former Right to Dream Academy graduate.

Since cementing his place in Nordsjælland’s first team, the Ghanaian has become one of the most consistent and exciting young midfielders in the Danish top flight. His calmness in possession, tactical awareness, energy, and maturity have earned widespread admiration throughout the season.

The midfielder made 28 appearances, scoring two goals and providing eight assists, numbers that highlight both his creativity and overall contribution in midfield. His performances have been instrumental in helping Nordsjælland remain competitive during the campaign.

Recognition Among League’s Elite

Yirenkyi will compete against several established stars in the Danish Superliga for the prestigious award. The shortlist also includes Tobias Bech, Tonni Adamsen, Thomas Jørgensen, Franculino Djú, Gift Links, Patrick Pentz, and Aral Şimşir.

Being included among such names is viewed as a strong endorsement of the Ghanaian’s impact and potential.

Right to Dream’s Growing Legacy

Yirenkyi’s emergence continues the success story of the Right to Dream Academy, which has produced several Ghanaian talents now playing in Europe’s top leagues. The academy’s close relationship with FC Nordsjælland has created a clear pathway for young Ghanaian players to transition into European football.

Over recent years, Nordsjælland has become known for developing young African talents and giving them opportunities at the highest level, with Yirenkyi now becoming one of the latest players to thrive under that system.

Black Stars Prospects Growing

The nomination could also strengthen Yirenkyi’s chances of breaking into the Ghana national football team setup ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
