Asantehene hands over 600-bed girls’ dormitory to Sefwi Wiawso Senior High School

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has officially handed over a newly constructed three-storey girls’ dormitory with a capacity of 600 beds to Sefwi Wiawso Senior High School, located in the Western North Region.

The dormitory was built through the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, the Asantehene’s charity wing.

The dormitory features 10 spacious rooms with lavatories on each floor, open washrooms, a washing and ironing area, a hall/common room, and a store room.

Additionally, it has an infirmary and a two-bedroom flat for the house mistress.

These facilities will provide a safe, inclusive, and conducive environment for academic excellence.

The construction of the dormitory began in December 2023, with Attachy Construction Limited as the contractor and Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL) as the consulting firm.

The project is part of the Asantehene’s vision to expand access to quality education and promote girl-child education in Ghana.

Sefwi Wiawso Senior High School is the Asantehene’s alma mater, making this initiative even more significant.

The handover ceremony was attended by traditional leaders and school authorities, who expressed their gratitude to the Asantehene for the generous donation.

The dormitory is expected to ease accommodation challenges and provide a conducive environment for female students to focus on their academic work.

This project reflects the Asantehene’s commitment to supporting education and empowering young girls in Ghana.
