Guinness World Record singathon contender Afua Asantewaa says she fears for her safety after allegedly receiving a threatening message from King Atehene, the self-proclaimed ruler of the so-called Kubala Kingdom.

In a post shared on November 5, 2025, the media personality revealed that the unsettling message came weeks after King Atehene’s eviction from a forest in Scotland, where he had been living with two women he described as his wives.

According to Afua, the message accused her of mocking the “king” and contained ominous warnings. The email read in part:

“The king stretched his hand of promise towards you about a day which cometh forth, yet you have mocked what is meant to be covered until the appointed time… Where the word of the king is, there is power. Kubala Kubala ilizwe.”

Afua said the cryptic tone of the message left her frightened and confused, wondering what she might have done to provoke such hostility.

“I guess my life is in danger. What does he want from me? Kubalaaaa, I’m not that kind of woman. Leave innocent women alone,” she wrote in her response.

This is not the first time Afua has mentioned contact with King Atehene. She earlier revealed that he once sent her an email praising her singing career and inviting her to serve as a “queen mother” in his so-called kingdom — an offer she ignored.

King Atehene rose to notoriety online earlier in 2025 after declaring himself ruler of the Kubala Kingdom, a self-styled monarchy he claimed to have established in a Scottish forest. He lived there with two women — Jean Gasho (Queen Nandi) and Kaura Taylor (Asnat) — claiming they were reclaiming ancestral land seized over 400 years ago.

Authorities in Scotland later evicted the trio for violating local housing and land-use laws.

Afua Asantewaa has since appealed to law enforcement to investigate the threatening message and ensure her safety.
